A seed growing in the darkness;
this change will bring us happiness.
Indeed I feel it build in me;
I feel you growing within me.
Child, I'm so excited to meet;
yearning to see your tiny feet.
Your tiny lips, fingers, and nose;
play piggy with your little toes.
And when tears fall down chubby cheeks
first, I'll check you for any leaks.
Almost in the zone of safety
then tell friends and family: baby!
Suddenly, cramping and bleeding
went to the hospital, pleading.
I went to work, kept my composure;
no thought of seeking some closure.
Instead of glory and great glee
a deep, dark sadness befell me.
There was nothing that could console;
such a loss takes a greater toll.
Sadly, it was not meant to be;
little eyes never got to see.
Boy or girl, I will never know
I'll never get to watch you grow.
Teach you English or martial arts;
how to behave when you've got farts.
Or how to treat people you date;
to fill your heart with love, not hate.
But you didn't enter this planet.
My sweet baby! God dammit.
