2024 - Week 39

Week 39 was full of creative energy. I took steps forward on some projects I've been stalled on and I laid the foundations for future projects. Arts & Crafts This week, I've been working on my Fairy Cross-Stitch. I'd really like to get it done and on the wall. I'm a very long way away from that, but it was nice to work on it while watching one of my favourite movies, The Long Kiss Goodnight , which stars Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson. I also made a new patch for my jacket. Decluttering & Minimalism Many swear words were yelled as I tried once again to fix my bathroom door situation. This thing has been a saga. The original door was large and swung inward, so even I had difficulty closing the door while inside the bathroom. So I tried a farmstyle door, but that was cracking the drywall above my door frame. Next, I tried just using the wood door I had from that, but I hated it. I tried a folding closet door, but I didn't put the track in the right spot.  T

2024 - Week 38

Arts & Crafts This week, I put together a JM Bricklayer Orchid plant. It's pretty cute. I recently decided regular plant care is not something I'm into, but I like the colour they add, so I thought some cute fake ones are a good idea.  I also assembled an owl made of flowers. Decluttering & Minimalism I'm super unmotivated on this right now. This, I suspect, is due to having had a busy summer and wanting to just catch my breath. I have made a list of all the home projects I want to get done this fall once the cooler weather has arrived. I've updated my Trello to-do list . It had been a while, so this was sorely needed. It felt good to scratch some items off the list. I moved some outstanding items to a fresh action card and closed off the others. Sometimes a digital declutter is necessary. Gaming & Streaming I thought about getting back to streaming this weekend, but it would've been forced and rushed. And there's no reason I need to rush to get back

2024 - Week 37

Arts & Crafts  I began a macrame leaf project for fun. It didn't work out. The size of the string I have is just not thick enough. I'll get some proper macrame cord next pay. Decluttering & Minimalism  There are times I would love to be just a couple of inches taller. I changed the hanging light above the TV in my living room to a flower shaped one like the one I have elsewhere in the room. It was easy enough to hang up after assembly, but my arms were just a couple inches short to be able to secure the cord. I had to move the entire TV console just to do that little bit. And, of course, the nail kept falling to the ground. No wonder small tasks exhaust me! On Wednesday, I got the notification that my storage coffee table was out for delivery. Due to dizziness, I didn't expect that I would get it put together though I really wanted to. I decided to see how I felt after dinner. I was able to start it and I finshed it on Thursday. I feel like it's a perfect place

2024 - Week 36

Arts & Crafts I spent some time on a patch this weekend, but it was a fail. I first tried to do punch needle, but it just sucked. Then I tried to cross-stitch on the punch needle fabric, but the scale was off and the fabric was so flimsy that I couldn't get it to work out. I couldn't add the band name because the fabric falls apart, so it ended up being pointless. Back to the drawing board. Perhaps I'll use an entirely different design with cross-stitch instead. Why change the design? The lettering just doesn't work with the angles afforded by the squares. It may need to be done entirely in embroidery to work. Decluttering & Minimalism I didn't make a lot of progress here due to exhaustion, but I did figure some last things out and have finally decided on a coffee table that matches my living room TV shelving unit and my other furniture. It features storage, is compact, and the table top can be raised up to use it as a workspace as needed. Storage is a const

2024 - Week 35

Arts & Crafts  With Drag & Balls done, a crafting break was needed to focus on reclaiming my home. That didn't last long. I did try a little crochet, but I found I was missing stitches on both sides of my table runner and I wanted to rip it way back to where I hadn't screwed it all up. This is a common and annoying thing with crochet that I don't have in knitting. I can easily find the spot I screwed up in knitting and it's often fixable unless I did a totally wrong stitch rather than have a missing one. If I accidentally add, I can just combine two to get it back to the correct thing. I decided to restart the project in knitting and I plan to do the border in crochet. It gets more cool the more I think about it. I felt absolutely insane while I was taking the whole thing apart , but in just a couple of days, I already had a third of what I had before. I would be doing the main portion in garter stitch because it lays flat. Then I planned to block it before doin
